How confident are science teachers?

Not very, according to a recent poll carried out by the Wellcome Trust in Britain.

According to an article in the Guardian, half of all of the 300 primary schoolteachers polled didn't feel they understood basic science well enough to teach it , even at the elementary primary level. The survey also showed, perhaps not surprisingly, that those who'd received extra science training felt a lot more confident.
