David Harding on the queen of the sciences

"Maths has never had a great image in our society."

- David Harding, as quoted in the London Evening Standard

All of the London scientific glitterati is aflutter about Harding, the hedge-fund manager who has just donated £5 million to the Science Museum to build a vast gallery dedicated to mathematics. The article says that Harding credits math for his own financial successes, and hopes that the exhibits will help make British children less 'maths averse'. One can but hope!

We can't wait to see it, but the gallery, designed by mathematics graduate Zaha Hadid, won't be opening until 2016.
